it was dark blue
a heat that trapped
the hills the night
in this april
may american
northeast I yearn
for crying on hot
soil, blue dark,
past stratum.

Physician
What anger in
this rough patch
of skin.
How I would rather linger
on the memory
of surprise,
the way it took a minute
for the simple eros
of diagnosis to sink in:
a hand had reached up
and was touching
a face.

Bayside
go out and come back with words and coffee
forgetting old errand at kwikmart
ah city nested in bays this long island which is not long island
in the sweet march air on a boulevard called bell
I wonder why I thought Manhattan was so great anyhow
also why spring makes me think of the british novel
